The Vibe

At KASIconcepts, palm trees are just about second to bikes in order of importance. Here is a snap from my recent trip to Hawaii, Waimea Bay. Feel free to send in your own pics - of serene palm tree-scapes and keep the vibe alive...

HALLOWEEN RACE

The Night of the Living Shred was a howling success! We all got into the spirit, as these checkpoint photos by Brad Serls attest. Congrats to Brendan for taking it out as he did, "dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight..." apparently. Boo to the motorbike fag cops who busted me within meters of the finish. Many thanks to Sammy D for bringing it all together.Bring on next year!

brisbaneoutdoorgear

Benee our good mate put me onto these gnarly straps out of Brisbane, I'v been using them for a few months now and I'm pretty much sold on them. the brisbaneoutdoorgear Strap-Ons are a highly adjustable very heavy duty alternative to normal straps and cages. The straps are constructed from highly abrasion resistant materials (Thermoplastic Polyurethane used for hovercraft bladders) and Velcro glued and stitched together with a pretty hardcore sewing machine. the Stap-Ons are really well designed the large area above the foot gives you a really secure feeling on the pedal almost like wearing clip-ons they can be fitted to most BMX or MTB style flat pedals and with all the adjustability you can rock whatever kicks ya want no matter how phat they may be. What i like most about these is that i haven't had to touch them since the first day i set them up they are just too solid and they seem to be lasting a lot longer than any strap/cage setup i'v run in the past and cost alot less too.For more info checkem out HERE

MACAFRAMA + EXTRAS FILM SCREENING!

August 28th. There will be a screening of the highly anticipated fixie flick, Macaframa, plus some of the kasiconcepts footage, hopefully at Sam's studio in the city. The event may be tied with a critical mass ride thru the city to get things rolling. There will be tricks, there will be drinking, there will be good times.
Macaframa is good btw, production values are up!
Stay tuned for more d's!

GLOBALGUTZ RESULTZ

1st - Bretto
2nd - Simo
3rd - Derek
Ah, what a race. Actually, the most crazy race I've ever been a part of. Terrible weather: a windy, wet, stormy night. I was impressed that 8 people turned up, but I'm certain that everyone who did race benefited from the experience!
The opening stages thru the ill-advised King's Park section of the route were treacherous (zero light and slippy) and I'm glad no one was hurt, most of all myself. Bretto and I were eventually able to forge ahead in the dicey conditions and my hat goes off to him. He blew thru the Bennett/Adl Tce intersection, cars oncoming, and I was unwilling to follow. He is a crazy bastard, although he wasn't riding his Maniac.

GLOBALGUTZ

Big Race coming up!
8pm, 20th of June Saturday, corner of Havelock and Parli Place.
GlobalGutz in an international alleycat taking place in various timezones across the world, each over a distance of 21km and 5 checkpoints.
Perth has been registered - big MJP has submitted our map - and kasiconcepts and neinlives are organizing what we hope to be a memorable night of bike antics. If the numbers are right there will be more events to follow the race. Check back soon and check out globalgutz.org in the meantime! Yeah!
Let's show them what Perth is made of - pure steel!

ACMC 09

Congrats to Brian for taking it all out and to Robbie for nailing the longest skid. It was a beautiful skid. It was cool to see all the guys from interstate, it's that kind of representation that makes an event memorable - take note! See y'all in Tokyo!!

SRBG
-Ride Report-
The Steel Road Bike Gang assembled last Wednesday afternoon. Members included Shauny, Kaspy, Jackie Boy and Simo. It was that shared opinion of the group that we appeared pleasantly Euro. Conditions for the ride were ideal during the temperate late hours of a sunny day. As we rode south along the river the water was calm and shimmering, an agreeable indicator that the headwind - typical of a sea breeze - was minimal. This meant however that while the early stages of the ride would be undertaken in near perfect weather, we would also have to miss out on the monster tailwind that can deliver you along the Oceanside return route with max out speed and cadence - the highpoint of the SRBG experience.
